About The PADI Tec 40 Instructors Course

Diving beyond recreational depths with open-circuit technical gear has allowed tec divers to discover amazing wrecks and photograph never-before-seen organisms. Tec 40 Instructors develop tec divers to extended their range ready to take part in many types of Tec exploration. When you earn this rating, you can conduct Discover Tec programs and teach the PADI Tec Basics, PADI Tec 40 Diver courses. There is also an option to become a PADI Tec 40 Trimix Instructor.

What You will Learn

The Tec 40 Instructor course ensures you have a good grasp of the courses you’ll teach and how to teach them. You’ll practice conducting knowledge development, practical application and workshop sessions, and open water teaching segments. Our PADI Tec Instructor Trainer will also review organisation and marketing considerations for PADI TecRec courses.

Teach how to use decompression and gas planning using dive planning software.

Prerequisites

To enroll on the PADI Tec 40 Instructor Course you must meet these qualifications:

Must be a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (or Higher Rating)
Must be a PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver Speciality Instructor.
Must be a PADI Deep Diver speciality Instructor.
Must have 25 Enriched air dives deeper than 30 meters/100 feet.
Must be a Tec 45/Tec 45 Trimix Diver.
Must have done 10 decompression dives wearing full technical equipment.

Prior to sending in your Tec 50 instructor application, you must have:

Certified 25 divers: no more than five from courses without dives, no more than five from PADI Seal Team or Master Seal Team registrations
Have a minimum of 20 decompression dives.

Meet one of the following:

Completed a PADI Tec 40 Instructor course.
Qualifying tec instructor rating with another organization and:
- have assisted with one Tec 40 Diver course or taught two qualifying courses.
- successfully complete the Tec 40 Instructor Exam within 12 months of application.

And,

Successfully complete the Tec 40 Instructor Exam within 12 months of application.

Medical Requirements

Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving.

Avoid disappointment, download and review the Diver Medical form to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before enrolling in a scuba course. Instructors, divemasters and dive shop staff are not physicians and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can give medical clearance to dive.

Your Medical Statement must be signed by a physician within the last 12 months or full HSE Medical. Trimix Instructor Option

To enroll in the Tec 40 Trimix Instructor course, you must meet these qualifications:

Tec 50 Trimix Diver (or higher level trimix) certification
Minimum of 10 trimix dives
Successfully complete the Tec Diver Trimix Instructor Course and Exam

Teaching status: PADI Tec 40 Trimix Instructors are authorized to conduct Discover Tec programs and teach PADI Tec Basics, Tec 40 and tec 40 Trimix Diver courses.
